THYROID SUPPORTIndicated for an imbalance in thyroid function, this formula has proven to be extremely helpful in promoting normal thyroid performance. It’s main contrubution is the iodine in Bladderwrack. Since the whole endocrine system is involved when any thyroid dysfunction is found, it my be necessary to also include Adrernal Support and Wise Women or other Hormanal Balancing formulas. Also consider taking selenun and extra vitamin C, both helpful in the body’s use of iodine, to ehance the overall effects.
~ Bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus): regulates thyroid function, hypo and hyper, and treats obesity, exhaustion, coldness and other symptoms of thyroid dysfunction or imbalance. It is a form of kelp with a high amout of iodine crucial for thyroid and every bodily function. It has been used for centuries. Bladderwrack supplies iodine, much overlooked for its very important value in the body as well as calcium, magnesiun, potassium, sodium, sulfur, silicon and iron plus B complex vitamins, and carotene plus proteins, with moderate amounts of phosphorus, selenium, manganese, zinc and vit K all found to be vital to health. It is alkalixing as well.
~Nettles (Urtica dioica): have a high concentration of vitamins and minerals and a wealth of nutrients making this an excellent, all-round nutritive tonic herb and highly beneficial when used as an extract for thyroid conditions. They are very high in protein and vitamins A, B's, C, K calcium, magnesium, chromium, phosphorus, potassium, iodine, iron, selenium, chlorophyll and acety-choline. Nettles nourish, alkalize, purify, and build the blood. They also cleanse the digestive tract, removing protein wastes, regulate
metabolism and aid in blood circulation.~Hawthorne Leaf and Berry (Crataegus oxycantha): both work to nourish and tone the heart and circulatory system, which is vitally important in any thyroid condition sinse the heart is overtaxed. Hawthorn berry and leaf help maintain healthy arteries, veins and heart by enhancing the connective tissue structure of the heart lining, blood and lymphatic vessels. Hawthorne has also been used for its diuretic properties, its ability to dissolve deposits and promote weight loss. This herb is highly beneficial for those with a thyroid disfunction. It stimulates circulation, strengthens the heart muscle, regulates blood flow and blood pressure, as well as heart rate by gently dilating blood vessels. Further, it increases the heart's ability to utilize oxygen, thus relieves restlessness and insomnia. It lowers cholesterol, contains antioxidant properties and is a source of nourishment for the heart by increasing blood supply to the cardiac cells. The flavonoids in Hawthorn affect calcium metabolism, enhancing the ability to support a normal heart rhythm.
~Ashwaganda (Withania somniflora)an an Ayurvedic herb reported to “instill the vitality of a horse”, an adaptogenic rejuvinator for those who are debilitated and exhausted while still agitated or under stress. It is sucessful for those who experience nervous exhaustion, anemia, chronic inflammation, white blood cell depression, lowered cognative functions, and hypertension. It has been shown to affect neurotransmitters in the brain, contrubuting to increased cognative ability and menory. It has also been found to reduce inflammation and stress (actually having a relaxing effect), and antioxident, anti tumor properties and anti aging effects as well. It positively affects the central nervous system and has a stimulating effect on the thyroid gland.
~Watercress (Nasturtium officinale): is a superior food remedy which is also detoxifying and nutritive to the body. It builds blood and produces a systemic metabolic regulating action. On an endocrine level watercress restores, nourishes and detoxifies which
in turn addresses and corrects thyroid deficiencies.~Chickweed (Stellaria media): increases digestive qi, promotes absorption, restores the blood and relieves fatigue. It also promotes urination, stimulates the thyroid and promotes weight loss.
~Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinalis): is a food herb high in vitamins A and C, and minerals, especially iron, calcium and potassium. It tones and decongests the liver and gallbladder, stimulates digestion, reduces indigestion, constipation, gas and bloating and supports the kidneys by being an effective and safe diuretic which preserves potassium and inhibits the reabsorption of sodium. This diuretic influence helps to also promote weight loss, which is beneficial for those with low thyroid activity.Oregon Grape Root (Berberis aquifolium): has a stimulating effect on the thyroid. It is a beneficial tonic for all the glands and it aids in the assimilation of nutrients.
